TEHRAN The banned campaign posters of a presidential candidate were replaced with new placards throughout the capital city on Saturday.
The banned posters of Abdollah Jasbi, the chancellor of Islamic Azad University, were removed early in the day on the order of a Tehran Court. The "illegal" posters showed a big photo of Jasbi and were posted in unauthorized areas, including city intersections.
However, the Judiciary should have acted more promptly in removing the posters, which have been in public view for six days.
Other posters of Jasbi show him sharing space with U.S. President George W. Bush, the Pope and Nelson Mandela.
These posters also have colorful images of the Eiffel Tower, the Statue of Liberty, the Leaning Tower of Pisa and Iranian monuments.
